SLT is Calling all Fairytale Creatures to the Stage for ‘Shrek the Musical’
Slidell Little Theatre’s Season Opener is for the Entire Family

Slidell Little Theatre director Scott Sauber wants to “Make a Monster” of a show and is looking for fairytale creatures who can show what a Big, Bright, Beautiful World it is.

"Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek…" And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude, and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand...and his name is Shrek.

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure featuring all new songs from Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Caroline or Change) and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire. Shrek brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage, and proves there's more to the story than meets the ears.  Presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).

Characters include:  Shrek, Donkey, Fiona, Lord Farquaad and Dragon.  All of the characters can be found at http://www.slidelllittletheatre.org/lets-make-a-monster/.

Please prepare 16 bars of an upbeat musical tune.  You should bring your own music.  Acapella is not acceptable it is considered unprepared.  A song from the show is fine.  Come prepared to move, full footed shows required.  A resume is helpful, but not required.  If you are interested in a certain role, do a little homework.  Sing something in that style.  Show off your voice, character and personality from the moment you introduce yourself and through your song.  A cartwheel when you hit the stage will work out your physical nervousness.  A tumble-set can make you comfortable.

All roles are available.  All who audition will be cast (provided they have limited conflicts).  Children under the age of 10 – parents must be present for all rehearsals.

Auditions are July 10th beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Rehearsals start on July 11th at 6:00 p.m. at Slidell High School
