Meet Our New Board Members!

President:  Derrick Schlumbrect

Derrick performing and being involved in shows at Slidell Little Theatre in 1987. He has been seen in Fiddler on the Roof, The Pajama Game, Cole, Into the Woods, Ragtime, and Neil Simon’s Rumors. Most recently he was in the fantastic production of Little Shop of Horrors as Mr. Mushnik.. During his 34-year career in theater, he has had the chance to perform professionally in productions of Les Misérables as John Valjean and the understudy to Valjean. He was also in two regional productions of The Music Man as Oliver Hix. Derrick has been involved in all aspects of theater, including directing an award-nominated version of Fiddler on the Roof in Northwest Indiana. His love for theatre has continued to grow over the years and he is proud to be back where he started.

As president, Derrick wants to focus on reuniting and reconnecting with the surrounding community. He wants to give back to the theater and the community what was given to him, what shaped him, and what provided him what he considers to be the most wonderful thing he has experienced in his life. Live theater.

Vice President of Marketing: Tianna Pourciau Sykes

Tianna is a dance educator, choreographer, and performing artist with experience spanning 20 years. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Kennesaw State University. Tianna’s choreographic works have been presented across the country and selected for Drapinski Dance Company's Catharsis Series, Southern Voices in New Orleans, "SHE Created IT" Dance Festival, and tour the Modern Atlanta Dance Festival, the Dance Gathering Houston, and Dance Canvas Atlanta. She has also directed and presented public arts events and dance productions regionally, and is currently the Artistic Director of NOLA Contemporary Ballet and dance educator in the Dance and Musical Theatre departments at The New Orleans Center for Creative Arts,

Here Comes the Y.A.T.S.!

Summer is in full swing with the Young Actors Theatre of Slidell (Y.A.T.S.) up and running. The first Mini-YATS session in is progress and this week will see other YATS programs gearing up and casting shows. Stay tuned throughout the summer and be sure to get your tickets and come out to watch the next generation of SLT members take the stage!
